Resident Bengals at the Monastery

Our two Bengal cats roam the acres of our monastery grounds.

These two beauties live and work in our monastery. They're not only precious companions who love to cuddle on our lap but they're hard workers daily keeping the mouse population of our acreage under control.

“Do you have a design in mind for your blog? Whether you prefer a trendy postcard look or you’re going for a more editorial style blog - there’s a stunning layout for everyone.”

This is Malachi and Moriah. They're brother and sister from the same litter and were bonded from the day they were born. They love living in a place where they can get out all that crazy bengal energy, and have a loving home where they're spoiled by everyone.

What's In a name?

All our pets have Biblical names. Malachi and Moriah are no exception.

Their Distinct Personalities

Malachi is passionate about his wanderings. He patrols our neighborhood sharing the blessing of his exceptional mousing skills with everyone. He can regularly catch a new mouse every 15 minutes. He's also the one climbing everything. He balances on top of the doors to every room, and even walks the roofline (when it's not hot). He loves the tall trees that cover the monastery grounds, since he was a kitten, we trained him to climb backward. With his head facing up, he can move each leg in reverse, the same way he climbed up the tree. Saving himself and us from dangerous cat rescues.

Thankfully Moriah is far more mellow (comparatively). She enjoys patrolling the garden and the trails that meander the property. She's a talker and has regular conversations with us. She also purrs and rubs against us all the time.

For the Love of Water

Both of our bengals are absolutely fascinated by water. Moriah loves the sinks, showers and tubs any time the water gets turned on she comes running. They also enjoy hours of entertainment sitting by the pond or one of the creeks. The bridge is a favorite hangout where they witness the fascination of water as it passes. It makes me smile just watching them and their passion for life.
