57 Ways I Boost My Immune System

God Created Us To Thrive.

After being injured at the hands of Western medical doctors, suffering for decades, and being bedridden for the majority of 13 years, I eventually died from those injuries but was revived back to life. My doctors caused me permanent injuries and death before I woke to the realization that Western Medicine is far more dangerous than my original issue, and I paid with my life for believing them. Thankfully, since then, I've learned ways to thrive and increase the health of my mind, body, and spirit far beyond what I previously knew existed.

I went from being an all-in medical student on my way to becoming an orthopedic surgeon to an encourager of true healing. I've increased in the wisdom of actual health (including the mind, body, and spirit), focusing on how God beautifully and intricately created us to thrive. (Find my books and upcoming memoir here).

More Than The Sum of Our Parts

The human body is far greater than the parts that make up a machine, and our soul is more than the spark within that runs the body. We're an intricately designed and beautifully balanced creation that's a dynamic work of art. We are masterfully weaved as an interconnected whole, purposefully created by the Creator of this world with the intention for us to thrive.

“For I know the plans that I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. - God (Jeremiah 29:11)

Anything that tears us down isn't from God. Living in a fallen world full of sin leaves us in need of a Savior. If you don't yet know Jesus as your personal Savior, this will be the most important thing you can do with your life. Stop everything and CLICK HERE to discover more.

My Personal Journey

After being told there was nothing to be done, "Go home and write a Will," and the botched surgery left me terminal and in hospice... I found that the doctors were wrong. The doctors watching me gasp for air told me they could only treat my symptoms and that there was nothing to do. They could keep me as comfortable as possible but only watch me die. But it turns out they're wrong; there are PLENTY of things to do. Healing is an active daily practice that takes effort but is well worth it!!

Supporting our immune systems isn't sitting around with our fingers crossed, hoping we'll get better. No. There are plenty of actions we can take to make tremendous improvements.

Even for people who choose to rely on pharmaceuticals, pills, injections, etc., ALL of these rely on the strength of your immune system to heal you. That's right.

“The only way to the highest levels of TRUE physical HEALTH and HEALING is through our GOD-GIVEN immune system.

So, let's stop tearing it down and begin building it up!

Beyond salvation for our soul, we can do much for the health of our mind and body. I'm not a medical professional, and I'm not giving medical advice here or anywhere. I'm simply sharing my opinions and listing a few things that have benefitted my personal journey. Thankfully, you get to decide what's best for your health; not me, not your doctor - YOU are responsible for your health.

Do your own research to make the most informed decisions about something as vitally important as your health. Suppose you choose to explore any of these ideas. In that case, I encourage you to do so after consulting a medical professional, preferably one in the alternative medical world (like a naturopath, acupuncturist, etc.) who understands these practices and can help you with the specifics of your journey toward increased health and vitality.

The Blessings of God-Given Immunity

We know a weakened immune system makes us vulnerable to infections, viruses, and diseases. However, did you know it also impairs your ability to think and process emotions and reduces your cognitive, spiritual, and energetic capabilities?

A robust immune system may help us remain calm, think more clearly, and maintain overall health far beyond the absence of the physical symptoms of an illness.

Thankfully, we can take responsibility for our health. No matter how healthy or weak our immune system is, we can strive to improve its ability to function. These techniques can also improve our overall health and well-being - including mind, body, and spirit.

A Series Of Choices

Beyond unforeseen accidents, our health (or lack thereof) is ultimately a result of the choices we repeatedly make. Most health concerns, including chronic conditions, heart disease, allergies, anxiety, depression, cancer, auto-immune issues, and chronic pain or inflammation, don't usually arrive out of nowhere. They're tied to our choices far more than most realize. We don't need to be surprised when these things occur, but instead, be aware enough to notice the early patterns - not of the disorder - but within our habits long before the disorder is discernible. Chronic conditions are usually a side effect of our lifestyle and habits.

The miracle of discovering that habits can change your health allows you to realize you have more power over your health than you realize. We'll all face accidents and challenges, but changing your daily habits may prevent you from suffering unnecessary hardships along your life journey.

Ways I Boost My Immune System

Here are a few of my favorite ways I boost my immune system.

1. Oxygen

We all know we need oxygen to survive, but have you considered the quantity and quality of the oxygen you breathe daily? Perhaps it's time to consider an air filter (or time to replace your current filters) in the environments you live in and hope to thrive. I prefer to spend time in a forest or ocean air for added support when possible. My immune system is my body's defense system and my most potent weapon against infections, viruses, and diseases. But most of us aren't running as strong or as efficiently as we're created to function.

I'm sure to have a pulse oximeter on hand to check my oxygen levels, and I try to keep my SpO2 at between 96 and 100. Good blood oxygenation is necessary to keep my organs and muscles functioning and allow my immune system to work at its best. If my SpO2 levels drop to 92 or below, I increase my oxygen along with an increase in several of the options listed in this list. We're complex beings, and everything's connected far more than most people realize - changing something as simple as my thoughts, emotions, or intentions influences my oxygen levels, cellular repair, and construction.

Beyond increasing the quality of my oxygen, I also improve the quantity of oxygen. Unobstructed breathing, exercise, and deep breathing practices, especially when combined with meditation, can use more of my lungs and increase oxygen levels in my brain and organs.

2. Water

Depending on age, specific organs, and who you ask, our bodies are between 60-85 percent water. Yet thousands of people are at some level of dehydrated daily.

All water isn't equal. As with anything that we put in our bodies, quality matters. The same is true for the water we drink. If you're drinking from bottled water or a municipal/city water source without filtration, you might be surprised at the levels of toxicity you're ingesting straight from your tap. Did you know that the standards for when tap water is considered unsafe to drink haven't been updated in decades? Want to know what's in your tap water? You can find out here, by choosing your area code and specific water provider.

Using a filter system, I can reduce or eliminate as many toxins as possible while maintaining critical nutrients and minerals. Among others, I use the Berkey Water System. (And no, I don't gain any financial or other incentives for telling you that.) Not only do I like the filters, but they also allow me to filter water during a power outage. It's also designed for alternative water sources like ponds, streams, or even a puddle in an emergency.

Am I drinking enough water? We don't all require the same amount. As a general rule, a simple calculation can help. For an average minimum daily intake, take your body weight in pounds, replace the pounds with ounces, and divide by two. For example, someone who weighs 100 pounds may have a minimum daily intake of 50 ounces of water per day. A 150-pound person may require 75 ounces of water each day. Daily activity levels, heat, humidity, and other factors may increase this minimum amount.

Not adding lemon to your daily water intake? You might want to consider it for all kinds of reasons. Here's a link to a video explaining a few of these important reasons. The importance of Lemon Water. I enjoy warm lemon water each morning.

In alternative medicine, including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), there are known detriments to drinking ice-cold water (or other icy foods or beverages). The theory is that cold beverages weaken the spleen and stomach, creating "cold and damp" conditions. These lead to a reduction in Qi (life-energy) flow, along with an increase in menstrual disorders, poor sleep, and gastrointestinal conditions, and through a weaker spleen, it weakens the immune system - therefore opening ourselves up to all kinds of imbalances in our health (physical and otherwise), including cancer, especially bladder and prostate cancer. Thankfully, there and numerous known benefits to drinking warm water first thing in the morning. Instead of coffee or tea, I enjoy a warm cup of lemon water.

3. Exercise

You already know oxygen is vital to life. And blood flow brings oxygen and vital nutrients throughout your cells. Regular exercise improves my cardiovascular health, lowers blood pressure, helps control body weight, and protects against various diseases while boosting my overall health and immune system's health.

People in better physical health are generally more capable of handling an illness, injury, stress, virus, or bacteria. The healthier I start, the more prepared my body is to fight against any incoming threat, no matter how tiny or numerous those germs are.

4. Whole Food

More than 13 years ago, I drastically changed my diet; I stopped eating highly processed foods and started consuming more whole, organic foods. Some people think of "processed foods" as name brands of things they know they shouldn't be ingesting. But I'm going to take it further. A lot further. Anything that comes in a bag, a can, or a box is processed.

“Anything that comes in a bag, a can, or a box is processed.”

For most of us, eliminating every food that comes in a bag, a can, or a box is nearly impossible. But we can certainly improve in that direction. Every change counts.

For me, I've discovered that toxins from processed foods increasingly build up in my system, and it hinders my ability to flush them, along with a decreaseility to flush other illnesses in my body's abs from my body. Reducing toxins isn't enough.

Even in first-world countries, there is extremely common malnutrition that's gaining ground. It's known as "micronutrient malnutrition." Where essential vitamins and trace minerals are significantly lacking. It's more and more common for someone to be overweight or even obese (not someone we at first think of as malnourished), and yet their organs are suffering from micronutrient malnutrition.

"We aren't what we eat; we're what we absorb.”

A healthy immune system requires good, regular nourishment. Malnourishment leaves us weak, vulnerable to infections, viruses, and diseases, and impaired cognitive, spiritual, and energetic abilities.

Even with our organic, whole foods, most of us don't get nearly enough vegetables or leafy greens in our diet - known for their ability to boost our immune system. This includes things like broccoli, kale, and spinach. I know I don't get nearly enough, especially for breakfast, so for the past 13 years, I've been making smoothies -- almost every morning -- that contain large amounts of vegetables to get my mornings off to a great start.

When I find myself craving processed sugar, I try to replace that snack with vegetables or fruit that's high in nutrients - to build my immune system - like oranges, kiwi, cantaloupe, or superfoods like blueberries or broccoli that are rich in antioxidants. There are also foods with probiotics, like sauerkraut, asparagus and Jerusalem artichokes. Honey, garlic, and cinnamon also do wonders for my immune system.

5. Juicing & Smoothies

I don't know anyone who gets the amount of leafy greens and other essential nutrients needed to run optimally. Eating four cups of broccoli six times a day may not be realistic. The best way I bulk up on nutrients is through juicing and smoothies.

Some say that extracting the juice is better, and others say it's better to keep the food complete; therefore, it should be blended whole. I believe there is merit to both arguments.

I love getting my greens first thing in the morning with a smoothie. But I can also drink significantly more carrot juice throughout the day than the bulk that would come from a carrot smoothie. The best of both worlds.

The key to both is to use fresh, organic ingredients and drink them while they're freshly blended/juiced. Making these a daily habit is my way of increasing my nutrients and feeding my body what I need without the bulk of having to eat that much solid food.

6. Basic Hygiene

It goes without saying, but I would be negligent not to mention that basic hygiene, including regularly washing my hands, is part of my healthy habits. I'm also learning to stop touching my face without freshly washed hands.

7. Sleep

It's no secret that sleep is critical to our health; it's when our body and brain get to flush and repair. This is no small task, and when I take it seriously, it can dramatically improve my health.

If I have trouble sleeping, I usually increase my dose of some of the other items on this list, like physical exercise during the day or a morning and evening meditation practice. An evening Moxibustion treatment, an hour on my PEMF bed, turning off all screens (television, computer, and phone) by 7 PM, or a minimum of 30 minutes of Earthing (outside) before sunset also work well for me.

Not only is the number of hours of sleep important (I find 6 to 8 hours a minimum for increased health), but when we sleep plays an even more critical role. There are plenty of studies that testify about the health benefits (especially mental health) of going to sleep early and getting up at sunrise. Even for those who consider themselves a "night owl" and prefer to go to sleep late (after midnight), the consequences of this are still decreased emotional stability, with increased anxiety, depression, and risk of suicide.

I believe God created all of us to be a "morning person"; some of us have simply gotten out of this life-healing habit. Thankfully, we can change this habit by going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night until we can get up at sunrise (after getting our 6-8 hours of healing sleep). As always, aligning ourselves with God's intention (in this case, His circadian rhythm) blesses us with increased joy, better decision-making, and a stronger immune system.

8. Vitamin C

We all think we know about Vitamin C and its many health benefits, but did you know that Ascorbic Acid is not Vitamin C? Ascorbic Acid is only a single element within Vitamin C. All vitamins are made up of highly complex molecules that contain a large number of factors that work together in concert to produce health benefits far beyond any produced by a single element/isolate. Like so many other things, when we take God's complex and intricately balanced creation and strip it down to a single idea, we remove the entire structure that was created to work together. There is order and balance in God's creation. Segregation without balance is never a healthy idea. In my experience, there is no vitamin activity when any of the compounds and minerals are missing. Disturbingly, "ascorbic acid" is frequently marketed as "Vitamin C" or even as "natural Vitamin C," but each of these is far from interchangeable.

In the vitamin industry, the stripping down and separation of elements are labeled as isolates, yet in nature, the process of separating each element into simpler matter is known as decomposition. A breaking down from the original whole.

Ironically, in the 1930s, when Dr. Albert Szent-Gyorgyi won a Nobel Prize for his discovery of how to isolate ascorbic acid from Vitamin C (in a red pepper), he also found that Vitamin C (along with ascorbic acid) is far more biologically available and active while it's still in the red pepper, in its whole form of composition (vs. decomposed into parts).

Yet the inexpensive and synthetic forms of ascorbic acid were easy to reproduce and sell to the public as it still is today. To this day, the words "Vitamin C" and "Ascorbic Acid" are (incorrectly) used interchangeably, even though they are not even close to the same chemical makeup. I'm not sure how he would feel about how it's being sold today, but in his own words, Dr. Albert Szent-Gyorgyi wrote,

“Right from the beginning, I felt that the medical profession misled the public. I think that is a grave error.”

In my experience, I find that not only is ascorbic acid not boosting my immune system, but just as the name implies, it's highly acidic (10 times more acidic than naturally buffered Vitamin C). Over time it can cause upset stomach, diarrhea, atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), along with the breakdown of collagen (what we need to keep our joints soft and mobile), leech minerals from skin, bones, teeth (weakening our structure), and promote the formation of kidney stones, and more.

Indeed, eating foods naturally high in Vitamin C is beneficial, like Kakadu plums, acerola cherries, green chili peppers, yellow bell peppers, black currents, kale, kiwi, broccoli, brussel sprouts, strawberries, oranges, lemons, and limes. But like most of us, I don't eat enough of these and supplement my diet. Because it's water soluble, the human body doesn't store Vitamin C which requires us to consume it frequently.

Ascorbic acid is not Vitamin C. Not even close. If my supplement bottle reads "Ascorbic Acid" instead of a list of natural foods, it may be doing more harm than good. I seek out a whole food, organic version of a complete Vitamin C. Here's a video with more information about the differences and how natural Vitamin C works.

When I feel ill or I can't get in for high-dose Vitamin C IV Therapy (listed below), I frequently use Liposomal Vitamin C.

9. Vitamin D

Unless you've lived under a rock for the past few decades, you probably know the immense benefits of Vitamin D. Specifically, I mean Vitamin D3+K2. I naturally receive Vitamin D from the sun through my skin. Yes, that means without sunscreen or sunblock. For years, I lived in southern California, where I spent time outside (usually on the beach) nearly every day of the year (and I have very pale skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes). Even then, I chose the benefits of God's sunshine over the potential toxins in the sunscreens that get absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream.

Like most of us, I no longer live where I can be outside with moderate amounts of sun-exposed skin all year long. That leaves me requiring supplementation to receive enough Vitamin D, especially the further away I live from the equator.

Many studies in numerous countries over several decades demonstrate that people who suffer from the most severe symptoms of a virus (including death) tend to have low levels of Vitamin D in their bloodstream. And people with high levels of Vitamin D (within healthy levels) have as much as 45-95% less severe symptoms when fighting the same virus. These levels are also true in studies about cancer, auto-immune issues, and so much more. While helpful with overall immunity, I find that Vitamin D is particularly good at fighting respiratory illnesses, pneumonia, and viruses, along with increasing my mood and my ability to process emotion.

10. Monitor Hormones

Trained in Western culture to believe everything is studied and works as segregated parts make this one easy to miss. But thankfully, we're wonderfully and intricately created, and indeed, everything is deeply connected.

Hormones are communicators who pass information from organs throughout the body. These communicators play an almost unlimited role in health - from mood to cognitive clarity, eyesight, reproductive health, brain function, muscular strength, heart and lung health, auto-immune issues, blood pressure, and my ability to recover, handle stress, and maintain my sense of peace (no matter the storm).

Because they influence almost every part of life, I believe checking my hormone levels at least once a year is a good idea. I prefer to use at-home testing that, instead of a single snapshot (like a single blood draw), I get to measure (and chart) the natural rhythm of my hormones over a 24-hour period of time, and I do this on specific days of the month to keep it accurate and consistent.

The testing gives me an idea of which hormones may be high or low. But instead of jumping to the conclusion of taking hormones (and indeed not pharmaceutical hormones), I prefer, when possible, to nurture the organ that makes the hormones instead. I believe this method not only helps that specific hormone but also balances out other hormones (and additional issues that may arise from them as well). Supporting my organs (and therefore balancing my hormones) is a critical part of my health and strengthens my immune system tremendously.

There are numerous ways that hormones become imbalanced. Some are as simple as stress, but others can be less obvious. This leads us to the next item: reducing exposure to endocrine disruptors.

11. Reduce Endocrine Disruptors

I also reduce my exposure to endocrine disruptors. These are chemicals that can mimic hormones and alter body systems. These can include food, especially genetically modified (GMO) food, and any food or products that contain estrogen-increasing properties or hormone disruptors (like soy, corn, and conventional dairy). Or any conventionally grown foods (including fresh fruits and vegetables - if they're not organic).

Endocrine disruptors can also include certain brands, articles of clothing, sportswear, and non-organic cotton, like tampons or other feminine products (which are often grown with chemicals that maintain their hormone disruptors even after the products are ready for use and for clothing, even after repeated washing cycles).

There's also potential for endocrine disruptors in skin care products, lotions, soap, makeup, sunscreen, toothpaste, paint, hand sanitizers, laundry detergent, silver dental fillings, plastic or canned packaging (especially for food), furniture fabric (that's sprayed with fire retardant), shampoo and conditioners (that contain phthalates or paragons), perfumes, and tap water. Reducing or eliminating these hormone disruptors (and finding organic versions when necessary) have gone a long way for me toward improved health and a more robust immune system.

12. Fermented Foods/Probiotics

It's said that 80% of our immune system is in our gut. So, it makes sense that being mindful of the helpful bacteria in my gut is a powerful tool to strengthen my immune system.

I prefer my pre-biotics, probiotics, and enzymes to be natural and organic. I also love making my own fermented probiotics. And it's easier than I imagined. Thankfully, you don't need a canner to make these. It only takes a few days to ferment (on the kitchen counter), and then I store them in my refrigerator. I love the MasonTops kit for fermenting; it makes the process so much easier. Here's how to do it.

I'm not a fan of sauerkraut, so for years, I imagined that I hated fermented foods. Until I started exploring other fermented foods and making my own recipes. My favorite is fermented carrots with grated ginger root and fresh dill. I don't need a lot; a small serving a few times each week is perfect for me.

13. Prayer, Mindfulness, & Meditation

We're created in the likeness of God as triune beings. God is three-in-one with God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. We are three-in-one with our body, spirit, and soul. As complex beings, our spiritual walk, including prayer, mindfulness, and meditation, can dramatically affect our mental and physical health.

One of the many benefits of these daily actions is reducing fear. Fear causes a tearing down of our immune systems and hinders our ability to heal or increase our physical, mental, and spiritual health. To reduce anxiety, increase my immune system, and spend time in prayer, mindfulness, and meditation, further increases my inner peace, and strengthens my immune system, along with my mind, and spirit.

14. Sambucus

Sambucus is the name of the genus of flowering plants commonly known as Black Elderberry. I've used this medicinal syrup for many years, and I believe it helps me fight all kinds of illnesses. In the Pacific Northwest, the Black Sambucus plants can be grown in the yard or garden, and the berries can be made into medicinal syrup.

15. Moxibustion

While this fantastic herb is frequently used during acupuncture sessions, I also use it regularly at home. The name of the herb is Moxa, and when lit it's called Moxibustion.

When used over specific acupuncture locations, its medicinal value can be increased. I experience more Qi (life energy/vitality) and increased energy, along with a warm, calm, and centered/grounded emotional state as well.

My at-home 20-minute sessions are a perfect way to begin or end my day. The calm strength can be used to start my day with increased grounding. While an end of the day session can encourage a deeper, more restful sleep. Occasionally, I do two or more sessions a day (and more sessions when I'm ill). I use both morning and evening sessions for prayer and meditation with God.

Here's a short video regarding moxibustion and the immune system.

16. Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy

I've been using PEMF Therapy almost daily for more than 12 years. This is a fabulous process that grounds my energy and emotions; it feels like a re-centering and the feeling of deep prayer, meditation, or that beautiful space between waking and sleep, where all is calm and at peace. It's the perfect way to begin or end each day, along with prayer and thanks to God.

For me (and my friends and family who've tried it), my PEMF unit has the power to remove even a severe migraine in less than twenty minutes. It (combined with several other ideas here) reduced the size of a solid mass (caused by a pharmaceutical) and increased the strength of my (then failing) liver, heart, and immune system.

17. Love & Gratitude - Intentional Energy

The book "The Hidden Messages In Water" is a mind-blowing example of how our thoughts and intentions manifest as physical shapes - either with order or chaos. Since our bodies are created with more than 50% water, this is a critical insight into the power of thought. I use this idea along with the words "Love & Gratitude" written on my glass water bottles that I drink from and they serve as a reminder of God's beautifully and intricately woven designs in nature.

18. Acupuncture

Around for more than 2,000 years, acupuncture has been a long-standing and fabulous way to treat the entire person, including the physical body, mind, emotions, and more. A complete system of care that seeks the root imbalances of symptoms and disease. It opens the meridians and re-directs Qi (pronounced Chee) (life energy) to allow the body a chance to heal itself as best it can - the way God created our bodies to heal.

There are numerous styles, methods, and types of acupuncture. Three of the most common ones I've tried include Japanese, Chinese, and Five Elements Acupuncture.

When my family and friends ask about getting started, for most (including children), I recommend Japanese acupuncture because their needles are extremely thin and barely enter the surface of the skin. Their methods tend to encourage the body rather than force change. While this method is relaxing and beneficial, it can take additional time to influence change.

From my experience, Chinese acupuncture (in a broad sense) uses larger gauge needles that penetrate further into the skin. This more noticeable needlework can be more challenging for the patient to tolerate (especially for Americans with a fear of needles), but it can sometimes produce faster results.

Five Element acupuncture is a category of its own, yet it falls somewhere between the other two. The needles are relatively small and reasonably shallow yet very intense - so intense that each needle usually stays in for under two seconds. I like that the Five Element method (even more than the others) focuses on the root of the imbalance.

Trying different kinds of acupuncture to see what works best for you is an excellent option. As a practice centered around energy, every practitioner will be very different, and what works well for one particular person may not be the best fit for another. Be sure you have good synergy and feel comfortable with your practitioner.

Acupuncture is a life-changing practice that I use as a first resort and a regular part of a healthy lifestyle. Using it at least once each season can help maintain my health, but increased sessions (usually twice a week) are necessary when illness or imbalance is apparent. An acupuncturist is far more than needlework, most of them have an education in Traditional Chinese Medicine and other alternative medicines as well.

19. Acupressure

Aligned with acupuncture's principles, this method utilizes pressure instead of needles on the specific energy points.

A professional practitioner best performs this for the most severe conditions. But for minor issues or maintenance, I've learned to practice some of these points in my session at home. From strengthening my immune system to reducing a migraine or helping my body into more profound relaxation, I enjoy being able to do much of this at home right when I need it.

20. Reduce Use of Western Medicine

If you've read anything about how I was severely injured and left for dead by the standard of "care" by Western medicine, and if you know that I'm one of the millions of people who've suffered or died at their hands, then this one won't come as a surprise.

Not only have I experienced this firsthand, but anyone paying attention can see the truth behind this massive for-profit business. If you haven't already, read my article "The Dangers of Western Medicine: Your Doctor May Be More Dangerous Than Cancer."

But don't take my word for it; look into it yourself. The truth is actively being buried but it's still available for those willing to search. Millions of first-hand cases, along with numerous studies and real-world scenarios, all testify that there's an increase in health, a more robust and more functional immune system, and a decrease in death rates when people avoid the use of Western medicine. This is so well documented and scientifically researched that it's commonly known that "when doctors go on strike, fewer people die".

I belive this is a testament to the fact that people are also placing their faith in the wrong things... in the for-profit big businesses of the world, rather than our God-given immune system and focusing on how we can strengthen it. But convincing people to stop worshipping these idols is a challenging journey.

There were five famous and scientifically studied cases across the world between 1976 and 2003 when doctors went on physical strike the death rate decreased in each of these cases. Not a single study found death rates to increase even after 17 weeks (more than four months) without their doctors. From Los Angeles to Jerusalem, this trend is consistent worldwide, wherever Western medicine is in practice.

On the contrary, many people report increased vitality, health, and resilience to stress and illness during these times with reduced or no Western medicine. And, in all of these cases, when doctors returned to work, mortality rates increased (to "normal") once again.

For example, in May of 2000, during the years leading up to a doctor's strike in Jerusalem, we can see the "normal" number of deaths in the month of May. In May of 1997, the number of deaths was 139; in 1998, it was 133; and in 1999, it was 153. But in the year 2000 (the month the doctors were on strike), the death rate dropped to a shocking 93.

For me, I've seen a dramatic improvement in my health and my ever-strengthening immune system over the last 13 years since I've reduced (and, in many areas, eliminated) my use of Western medicine (refusing surgery and pharmaceuticals - since ALL surgery and drugs are elective). This has been an enormous blessing for me. It's also given me a chance to witness my body's resilience in ways I never knew existed. The limits of Western medicine have come to light for me as I now know that the statement "My doctor told me I needed this" is optional, and the sentence "there's no known cure or treatment" can always be completed with "according to Western medicine." It's a breath of fresh air to know that there's so much more, deeper, profound, and far more healthy ways to thrive.

21. Laughter

There truly is an energetic resonance that changes when we're happy, smiling, and genuinely laughing. Surrounding myself with loved ones who make me laugh is essential to my life and health.

When alone, I sometimes watch an uplifting movie or comedy and let myself laugh out loud.

Trials are inevitable, but discouragement is a choice. Choosing to seek out positive, uplifting, and genuinely laugh-out-loud hilarious moments is always helpful to my soul and my body's healing.

22. Traditional Chinese Medicine

Used for thousands of years, this method of medicine utilizes several modalities to harmonize a person as a whole, including their physical body, emotions, and energy. It seeks to energetically change imbalances to create harmony, allowing the human body and spirit to higher levels of proper health, far beyond the absence of illness (as defined by Western medicine).

TCM is a comprehensive medical health care system with an enormous array of practices, including acupuncture, acupressure, moxibustion, cupping, herbs, medical QiGong, nutrition (and the energetic temperate of foods).

23. Honey

Raw, unpasteurized, local honey has been used for thousands of years, and I, too, use this God-given sweetness to boost my immune system.

I prefer one teaspoon of honey in my warm lemon water in the morning. And a second teaspoon of honey in warm water before bed each evening.

There are so many benefits to local, raw honey! And honey doesn't have an expiration date. So feel free to stock up.

If (or when) the honey crystalizes, simply heat the jar in warm (not boiling) water. Place it on a dishcloth or a canning rack so the bottom of the jar doesn't touch the bottom of the saucepan while heating. Note: temperatures above 130F degrees will pasteurize the honey, reducing the healthy enzymes - so keep the water around 110 or below. Be sure it's in a glass container (never heat plastic). And please don't use the microwave. Sometimes, I set the jar in direct sunlight and let nature heat it. Either way, a jar of honey is easily rejuvenated and ready to boost my immune system daily.

24. Supplements

Beyond Vitamin C and Vitamin D3+K2 (listed above), there are several supplements I use to boost my immune system.

A few of these include:

Probiotics (from supplements, kombucha, and foods)

Zinc Picolinate

Quercetin

Echinacea

Colloidal Silver

N-acetylcysteine (NAC)

and so many more.

There are plenty of other options; these are the ones I've had a personal positive experience with and had tremendous success. As always, be sure to work with a professional whose expertise includes these supplements to know what's best for your health at any given moment. We are beautifully created and dynamically changing beings. What worked for us a year ago may not be true now or ten years from now as our bodies grow, change, and are constantly under different stresors and imbalances.

25. IV Therapy

If you need a higher dose of Vitamin C or other nutrients, IV therapy can be a fabulous way to get it straight to where you need it most - in your bloodstream. By bypassing your digestive system, you can take much higher doses that can be life-changing -- or even life-saving -- especially for those fighting severe illness. Search for an IV therapy doctor near you for more information about "high dose Vitamin C" through IV therapy.

I've personally experienced IV Therapy as nothing short of a miracle! After my doctors tried everything they knew how to do, I was dying of multiple organ failure and in hospice. I turned to IV therapy, and I believe that God, through the use of IV therapy, saved my life. For me, this (combined with several others in this list) allowed my organs to repair themselves long after they were considered terminal. Although knowing what I know now, I wouldn't wait that long to use IV therapy; I'd begin with it right away! Not as a last resort but as a first action. I prefer to use IV Therapy as a seasonal preventative (used four or five times each year or even once a month) and certainly at the first sign of an imbalance or illness.

26. Body Code & Emotion Code

From the first chapter of the Bible, in the book of Genesis, we know that everything is energy. I use The Emotion Code and/or The Body Code to release blocked energy. I've used this method of release and healing for more than a decade with significant results.

One of my health issues that I struggled with for more than 25 years (and no other doctor or practitioner could budge) improved within a few months of using this kind of energy work.

There are fantastic practitioners all across the world. And thankfully, because this is energy work, it can be done by a practitioner who may be miles, an ocean away, on the other side of the planet, and it still holds the power to work. Energy isn't reduced by distance.

Something as simple as releasing a trapped emotion can increase my immune system.

If this kind of work resonates with you, please contact my current practitioner, Juanita Ecker, and let her know I sent you. I pray it works as well for you as it does for me.

27. Applied Kinesiology

A technique that uses specific muscle testing as a neurologic evaluation of body and internal function.

Personally, my AP doctor has saved me from taking pharmaceuticals that would cause me anaphylaxis or other harm, helped me reduce pain, adjust my diet (based on Nutrition Response Testing and the energetic temperature of foods), along with increased digestion, an increase in the strength of my immune system and so much more.

28. Healing Visualization/Picture Therapy

More than thinking positive thoughts or imagining a good outcome, healing visualization or picture therapy uses the power of specificity.

I spend time regularly thinking about the intricate details of what needs healing. Even at the molecular level, I visualize the repairs taking place, my tissue coming together, regenerating, and strengthening.

Will power is weak and shallow compared to the nearly limitless thoughts of our imagination. There is power in learning true-to-life visualization; something both believable and desirable.

For example, try to will yourself to create more saliva right now. Nothing? Now imagine the details of standing in the kitchen, holding a lemon. Imagine this now as you feel the weight of the lemon in your palm and run your fingertips against the texture of its skin. Then, slice the lemon open and experience its vibrant color. Lift the cut lemon to your nose and intensely smell its fragrance. As you bite into the lemon, feel its juices and note how the lemon tastes on your tongue.

If you imagined this thoroughly, so clearly that you can see, feel, hear, taste, and touch things within your imagination, then you probably just swallowed. Using words and your imagination, you created an energetic change; one strong enough that your brain told your saliva glands to produce more saliva. This is evidence of a physical change produced through the energy of words and thought.

Since such a tiny example works so quickly and without practice, imagine how much more can be done with practice for healing the body (physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually). There is tremendous power in training my mind toward specific goals, primarily when I fuel my imagination with desire, belief, and expectancy. Everything is energy, and energy changes our physical world.

One of the many avenues toward this energy practice is The Silva Mind Control Method. I prefer to listen to the audio version of this book so I can close my eyes while listening and be in my alpha/zen level while learning.

29. Reminiscence/Immersion Therapy

Decades ago, assisted living facilities began studies as they placed seniors in locations surrounded by sights and sounds from an era when they were in their prime. They arranged rooms with furniture and music from a decade of their life when they were physically strong, falling in love, starting a family, and had a hopeful outlook on life.

These studies showed significant improvements in mood, cognition, memory, and muscle strength, reduced stress levels, and increased immune system function. Many people felt an overall increase in joy.

I chose to do this in my own way, not necessarily from a specific era, but by surrounding myself with things that make me smile and bring me joy. This can be anything from a color that speaks to me, photographs or paintings of places I've visited, textures that comfort me, and music that uplifts my soul. My home becomes my sacred space where I nurture joy.

30. Chiropractic Energy Alignment

Chiropractic re-alignment results in fabulous improvements in my wellness. I only use chiropractors who use energy as a form of their movements - rather than strictly by physical force. It's a rare practice but one well worth it for the results. Many Kinesiology Chiropractors do some level of energetic practice.

31. Meridian Energy

Meridians are like the highways that our life energy uses to travel (similar to blood vessels that transport our blood). Like a highway, they can hold energetic traffic jams or other areas that aren't flowing as well as when everything is in balance. There are several ways to encourage these meridians, from acupuncture, acupressure, and meridian massage to electromagnetic meridian energy devices.

32. Naturopathic Medicine

If you do most or all of the above, it's best to do them under the guidance of a medical professional who understands them. If you're working with someone through some of the above ideas, and your body still requires additional care, further options are available. See your non-Western medical professional for advice on health and healing. A naturopath can also write Western medical prescriptions, though most are reluctant. Personally, knowing first-hand the enormous and unspeakable dangers that happen every day in Western medicine, I would only use Western medicine's pharmaceuticals as an absolute last resort (and perhaps not even then).

33. QiGong & Medical QiGong

QiGong is the practice of moving Qi (pronounced "chee") or life energy. This can be done as a daily practice.

Medical QiGong can be performed by a medical professional (or through the study of such practices) and focuses on moving Qi in regard to improving overall health, including the physical body, mind, and emotions, and treating the client as a whole.

34. Lymphatic Drainage

Commonly known as Lymph drainage, this process is a gentle form of massage used to release and guide lymph fluid through your system for increased flow where it may be stagnant.

Like so many other items on my list, here, too, there's often a pattern of stagnation (either physical or energetic). We aim to release or move that blocked or stuck essence so that the body can move freely and bring blood, oxygen, nutrients, and energy to all areas, allowing the body (and the interconnected immune system) to do the best job possible.

35. Massage, Myofascial Release & Gua Sha

From Swedish massage to Gua Sha all increase my blood flow - bringing oxygen and nutrients throughout my body - allowing it to heal as best it can. Rolling out for myofascial release, followed by some mild stretching, always makes me feel better, centered, and more aligned - along with increased blood flow for clarity of thought. it's also a physical release of tension that allows energy to flow more freely, increasing my ability to heal and maintain proper health.

36. Cranial Sacral & Reiki

This practice of energetic work helps me relax and allows my energy to more more freely, especially throughout my head. Personally, it helps reduce migraines and increases my ability to think more clearly, all while reducing stress and encouraging a calm spirit.

37. Eastern Medicine

If you do most or all of the above, it's best to do it under the advice of a medical professional. Plenty of alternative and Eastern medicine practices have been used to help me, whereas Western medicine seems to hold no answers.

38. Letting Go

A simple-sounding technique that takes more to accomplish than one might first imagine. But the act of letting go (and sometimes having to repeat that action) is a blessing to my immune system and mental health.

Letting go of the things that no longer serve me allows me to simplify, refine, and appreciate even more the things that matter most. Letting go can include physical objects that clutter my house or clothes I no longer wear to people who repeatedly bring unnecessary negativity into my life. It also includes ideas, holidays, and beliefs I now know as unreliable or untrue. This release rewards me exponentially over time as I move forward and focus on what serves God most in my life and leave everything else behind.

39. Nebulizer - with Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide

A nebulizer is a device used to administer something in the form of a mist that's inhaled into the lungs. I use my hand-held nebulizer with Hydrogen Peroxide (one part HP with two parts purified water). I use it occasionally for health maintenance but also proactively at the first sign of illness, especially respiratory illness.

When I use it twice a day during an illness, I quickly notice a reduction in my symptoms and can rest and breathe easier. I'm always careful to use very purified water, distilled water, or a saline solution (not tap water). And I make sure to use Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide (3%). (The processed HP in the brown bottle can contain stabilizers, toxins, and heavy metals - things I wouldn't want to breathe).

Here's a video as an example of how I use my nebulizer.

40. Homeopathy

The art of "less is best". Like many others listed here, Homeopathic medicine is considered holistic - meaning it treats the person as a whole rather than focusing on a disease or labeled illness. Using natural vegetables, minerals, etc., the substance is diluted until no molecule or detectable substance is left. The idea is that this process leaves the energetic essence that matches the totality of the person's specific imbalance. Such minuscule doses increase the ability of the body to recognize it and stimulate the immune system (rather than hinder it). It dramatically reduces the chances of side effects - making its practice successful in sensitive adults, children, and infants for hundreds of years.

One of my favorite homeopathy treatments that I take frequently when I feel an illness or imbalance coming is called Cold and Flu Relief (by Hevert).

41. Biofeedback

Like many on my list, Biofeedback utilizes the God-given principle that the human mind and body are interconnected. Changes in one must influence the other. As we learned in The Emotion Code, changes in emotion and thought create changes within the brain and body. This circle continues as changes in the mind (through thought and emotion) create physiological changes in the body.

By bringing some of the massive storehouse of information from our subconscious to our conscious, we can create physical changes that many (falsely) believe are involuntary. There are several types of Biofeedback, and many of these principles overlap with other practices on my list, leaving several ways to access this loop and accomplish your goal. It can boost your immune system to fight anything from the common cold or virus to cancer. Biofeedback is also used to reduce physical pain, emotional trauma, depression, PTSD, and asthma, influence blood pressure, heart rate, digestion, and body temperature, or increase relaxation and emotional well-being.

Biofeedback is the conscious awareness of the feedback loop of your body and mind. While it can be labeled as its own therapy, its principles are often utilized and integrated with teachings of numerous other practices, like Mindfulness Meditation, acupuncture, Qi Gong, especially Medical Qi Gong, along with Applied Kinesiology, The Emotion Code/Body Code, and the Sylva Mind Control Method. There are many ways to connect your mind to your body's feedback.

42. Reading The Bible

Praying is an act of speaking to God, and reading His Word is the act of listening, learning, and potentially growing in Christ.

We are triune beings, created in God's Triune image (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit); we each have our own human triune completeness, including our soul, body, and spirit. We're so intricately created that one area within us (the spirit, soul, or body) can't be weak without the others having some form of weakness. So, by strengthening my spirit and soul through the Word of God, I also influence my physical body.

The Word of God is healing for my mind, body, and spirit. The best way to get to know God better is through His words. My regular practice of reading the Bible results in increased peace and spiritual strength - both of which increase the function of my immune system.

43. Gratitude Journal

Writing down your blessings - the things you're grateful for - is beneficial in numerous ways. By physically writing (not typing), I connect my muscle memory to the events. The daily practice of seeking gratitude changes my day. Knowing I want to write at least one thing I'm grateful for each evening before bed opens my awareness to blessings throughout the day as I seek out these daily blessings.

These not only add up to a daily increase in my mental health but also boost my immune system. When I focus on seeing Godly blessings, I'm less distracted by opposition. This practice also serves to visually see and feel the weight of the numerous blessings over time. And on bad days, I can flip through the pages and reminisce over any of the thousands of blessings.

44. Herbal Medicine

While most acupuncturists or alternative medicine practitioners will understand herbal medicine, there are times when an herbal specialist is extremely helpful. An alternative practitioner may refer a patient to an herbalist if necessary. Herbs are more powerful (and far more complex) than most people realize. Their intricate relationships with each other and each of our organs, along with their natural, energetic properties, allow them to influence tremendous changes. And having a specialist to guide you through this vast field can be priceless.

45. Electrolytes & Hydration

While this relates to water, staying hydrated is more complex than just drinking water. Electrolytes are an essential part of our physical body, so much so that they influence everything from our heartbeat to the firing synapses in our brain, reducing our clarifying our thoughts.

We know that highly processed sugars reduce the strength of our immune system, so choosing electrolytes that don't contain these is crucial.

Like most things, I prefer a variety. I use both a liquid and a powder form of electrolytes to keep my body hydrated and my immune system functioning as optimal as possible.

46. EFT Tapping

The Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT Tapping, is the specific tapping of your fingers along the ends of nine meridian points. There are 12 major meridians in the body (like major highways for energy to flow). I think of it similar to blood, arteries, and veins... if the blood flow is blocked or reduced, an imbalance will result in future health issues. Similarly, energy blockages or reductions in its natural flow also create imbalances. But with this process, instead of using needles (like acupuncture), I can treat some things at home through the use of EFT Tapping.

This method is often used to reduce stress, anxiety, or pain, all of which, when reduced, strengthens my immune system.

47. Mantra: The Nine Chinese Words

Words contain power. For decades, the "Nine Chinese Words" have been used as a mantra for healing. They apparently strengthen the energetic field within and around us. And like all energetic medicine, it can influence change in the physical body immediately. In this case, it encourages healing. One of the keys to this practice is saying these words with a sincere heart. Especially for non-Chinese speakers, it's often said slowly to be sure of pronunciation. Here's a link to an audio file of how to pronounce the Nine Chinese Words.

You can read fascinating (modern-day) cases and studies about this practice here.

The Nine Chinese Words (or the Nine True Words) are two short sentences, “Fa-Lun Da-Fa Hao” and “Zhen-Shan-Ren Hao.” Which, translated into English, means “Falun Dafa is Good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good.” Falun Dafa is a type of meditation. I prefer a more accessible translation like "Meditation is Good” and “Truthfulness, Compassion, Self-Control is Good."

I tried this method and experienced some positive results. So I wondered if I translated them into English, would they still work? And the results (for me) were not as strong, but still held some positive changes.

As a Born-again Christian, these ideas (since all good things come from God) reminded me of God's words and what He tells us to think about.

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." Philippians 4:8

I've used this verse as a mantra for healing and found it more successful than the English translation of the Nine Chinese Words. I've also used this verse as a list of eight things to repeat as a shorter mantra. "Truth, honor, right, and pure... lovely, good, excellent, and praiseworthy." This too, had a similar effect for me as the verse.

From there, I was reminded of another list of nine words that God tells us to repeat in our lives - not only in our minds but in our actions.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control" - Galatians 5:22-23

For me, these Nine Words (which are the evidence of the Holy Spirit living within me) work better than using the Nine Chinese Words. I begin by breathing deeply, relaxing my muscles, focusing on God, and saying "thank you" as I recall the verse. From there, I say each word slowly and allow myself to feel each word energetically. I know what it feels like to be loved, and I let myself go there for a moment, then to the sensation of joy and let my mind and body embrace that too... and so on. I repeat each word two or three times and then repeat this session one to three times each day as often as needed. There's no doubt that there's power in God's words and that they'll make positive changes for those who love God and apply them. I finish each session with "Thank you" to God.

48. Reducing EMFs

Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) are invisible fields of low-level radiation that interact with our brain, heart, and the cells throughout our body. EMFs are emitted from various devices, including smartphones, computers, laptops, WiFi, internet routers, microwaves, etc.

Using a magnetic field meter, I can quickly discover how much and how far each of these devices emits. Most people would be shocked to realize how powerful and far these technologies emit electromagnetic fields. And how disruptive this can be to the human body - primarily when used near the head, heart, or brain.

The human brain and body generate electricity (through the elements within us like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium that create a specific charge.) So, it makes sense that other electric fields can disrupt those systems. These disruptions can create imbalances in mental and physical health (because even our thoughts generate energy).

As with electronics, the ideal circuit is the one with the least resistance. The brain and body work more efficiently when its impedance is lowered (and there are no EMFs to disrupt the flow of health and energy).

By reducing or eliminating my time around these items and the fields they create, I've noticed an increase in strength in my immune system. Along with more energy during the day, better sleep at night, and a general sense of calm and peace. Much of this is encouraged through my decisions not to own some of these devices, minimize others, and prioritize my time to disconnect.

49. Refocusing From Negative To Positive

Instead of focusing on what I can't do, my limitations, bad habits, or my inability to heal, improve, or sleep, I refocus my attention from the problem to the benefits of the accomplishment.

Thinking about the negative thing I wish to be rid of and firmly resolving to use my willpower to overcome it often binds me more tightly to the negative problem, making it worse.

By shifting my focus to the positive benefits - the beautiful things that I'll get to accomplish or experience when these things are resolved, I tap into the power of my imagination and all the possibilities that come with this positive outlook.

For example, instead of focusing on the willpower to fall asleep, I refocus on the restful peace and energy I'll gain from the positive outcome. Or, instead of focusing on how miserable my body feels, how everything hurts, and how I wish I were better, I focus on what it feels like to be able to function, how I can breathe deeply, exercise, and how my muscles are strong and resilient, and the incredible heights of proper health. I let these positive thoughts penetrate my cells, and often, within minutes, I feel the positive energy helping me toward that happier, healthier place.

50. Earthing

One way to re-center (especially after exposure to EMFs) is through Earthing. This means simply walking outside and touching your skin to the earth. My favorite way to do Earthing is to bury my feet in soil or, better yet, sink them in sand. And while standing in silence, listening to the breeze, what better time to pray and meditate?

Though many use the terms Earthing and Grounding interchangably, these modalities are not even close to the same. Grounding usually involves products (like grounding mats, sheets, etc) and they're connected through the electrical system of your home. Yes, even a "neutral" line buried in your backyard is often too close to your system to be free of interference. Shutting the power off (at the circuit breaker) to your bedroom at night can help tremendously. Earthing is to make physical contact with the earth. Personally, after years of attempts, I've shown no improvements from using grounding mats, yet I've experienced tremendous increases in my physical health from Earthing outside (even for only a few minutes a day).

We're always better off doing things the way God intended. When we connect to the battery He provided (the earth), our bodies function at a superior level.

51. Go For A Walk

It's a common practice in countries like Sweden when someone is suffering from an illness or depression; the standard advice is to "Go for a walk in the forest."

I know this to be profoundly sound advice. I've learned that walking can reduce anxiety, relieve depression, boost cognitive and creative function, and strengthen my immune system. This is why so many -- from CEOs to creative artists -- utilize walking to break up a busy day, spark new ideas, or process complex challenges.

Walking isn't just getting some exercise and fresh air; it brings blood flow that carries oxygen to the brain. It's also the body's natural way of encouraging synovial fluid into your joints and flushing the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system helps clear out cellular debris and other toxins -- hence being able to feel better and think more clearly.

While walking in a forest has additional benefits, not everyone can access that as frequently as we'd like. Walking, even in the city, around the block, through a park, or on a local running track, will still bring the benefits of flushing the lymphatic system -- which strengthens the immune system.

If I'm sitting for most of the day, this usually brisk walking habit can be five minutes every hour. Otherwise, a calm or medium-paced walk for 30 to 90 minutes during the day is fabulous.

52. Forest Bathing

In Japan, instead of focusing on the faster pace of "going for a walk," their concept is specific to the forest, and it's taken at a reduced pace. It's called "shinrin-yoku," meaning "forest bathing." It's the practice of spending time in a natural forest with the intent of sensory engagement and awakening.

For me, stepping into nature is like stepping into a masterpiece of art created by God. I can't help but feel His presence, witness His creativity, and embrace the calm peace when surrounded by love.

The forest is one of the only places where we can be entirely surrounded -- on all sides, including above us -- by nature. There's something powerful about being in a forest that makes this practice work.

To be clear, a park, a tree replantation, an arboretum, or a stand of monoculture (one type) of trees is not a forest. A forest is a heavily treed area with enormous older-growth trees mixed in with young, rising trees, seedlings, fallen trees on the ground, and all the plants and animals that call this natural blend of biodiversity home. This is the kind of place where the benefits of forest bathing can be fully realized.

53. Morning Sun

Increasing my connection to the circadian rhythm of God's nature strengthens my immune system, along with additional physical and emotional benefits. One way to do this is to see the sunrise each morning. Of course, I don't mean to look directly at or into the sun, ever. Let the morning sunlight enter your bedroom, or even better (when possible), go outside and enjoy looking at nature while it's bathed in morning light.

54. Reduce Blue Light

Another way to increase my connection to the circadian rhythm is to reduce or eliminate seeing blue light, especially in the evenings.

This includes turning off cell phones, televisions, and all devices after around 7 PM. You might be surprised at what a positive difference this can make in your health, along with strengthening your relationship with your family members.

Most of our modern lights also give off blue light, so changing out lightbulbs or lighting candles in the evening can prepare our body and mind for rest.

55. Classical Music

When possible, I listen to classical music, and I've personally experienced the well-documented "Mozart Effect." For me, this includes a stronger immune system and an increase in my cognitive abilities.

Numerous scientific experiments conclude that it also reduces the risk of brain atrophy, slows cognitive decline, and increases brain function by 50 percent. In neurology and neuropsychiatry fields, certain types of classical music are used to positively change brain disorders such as epilepsy and Parkinson's disease (while physically maintaining or increasing the grey matter in the brain as we age).

In contrast, some modern pop, new age, and rock music are known to reduce mental clarity, along with a reduction in the ability to care for others, to relax, or maintain calm. It's also known to evoke excessive excitement and arouse anger, hostility, and negative emotions followed by melancholy and depression. This testifies to the importance of our choices, especially when it comes to what we listen to on a regular basis.

Though more complicated than this, one main difference between classical and pop music lies in its complexity and structure. Classical music adheres to strict structural, harmonic, and complex mathematical rules while placing a significant emphasis on proportion, balance, and harmony. On the other hand, pop music focuses on the repetition of the same musical sequence that lacks the dynamically varied tempo, volume, or the subtle development of progression heard in classical music.

A few of my favorite pieces (that work well for me) are:

Mozart's Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major (K448) **

Mozart's Sonata in C (K545) **

Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major Bach's Prelude in C Major

Beyond Bach

Jules Massenet's Thaïs Méditation

Beethoven's violin concerto

  • ** These two are the most studied pieces to help reduce brain disorders.

56. Spiritual Strength

If, for some reason, you still rely on science to "prove" anything to you, there are plenty of studies that prove that a person's spiritual strength improves their immune system and health far more than merely thinking positively or having a healthy emotional well-being.

It's proven that spiritual elevation brings about physiological change. Why? Because there's something deeper going on here.

Numerous studies show that people who know God, have spiritual strength, and value the meaning and purpose of life... also have increased natural killer cell cytotoxicity - a physical presence in the immune system that provides the ability to be more resistant to viruses, cancer, depression, and a whole host of other imbalances.

Interestingly, these natural killer cells recognize imbalance, see the wrongdoers (cancer cells, viruses, etc.) for who they truly are, and take action to maintain the God-given balance toward healing and health.

Perhaps this is the micro-version of what we're to do as humans. To seek God, recognize truth, and encourage others toward that goal of balance - where peace and unconditional love reside.

We are far more than the sum of our physical parts. God intricately designed us in His image - a three-in-one being. Our mind, body, and spirit are purposefully interconnected.

The world (and Satan) wants us to believe that what we see and touch is the only truth, but in fact, our physical realm is the smallest of our three components. Therefore, it's easy to see how strengthening our spirit in the direction it was created to thrive will also strengthen our God-given physical body.

The best way to increase spiritual strength is to know God as your personal savior and then nurture that loving relationship.

57. Know God

Indeed, the most essential item on this list is to know God. This can bring peace during this life and throughout eternity.

Satan's goal is to separate people from God. This separation results in consequences like hatred, jealousy, pride, and division. All the things we see gaining ground in the world today. These aren't God's designs but the natural consequences of those who choose to separate themselves from God.

God desires that all of us will choose true, eternal God-centered love instead. But He loves us enough to give us a choice (otherwise, we'd be programmable robots). The choice is up to each of us.

We know that a person's spiritual state (in either direction) brings about physiological change. Without God, these changes include depression and anxiety, which can easily transition our physical bodies into imbalance, illness, cancer, and a whole host of other imbalances. We invite these things into our minds, bodies, and spirits. But the exciting truth is that we can choose to invite God instead.

While life will always have trials, with God, we can truly experience the ever-expanding joy of unconditional love, we can know the meaning of life and stand firm on His unshaken foundation along every step of our journey, and we can know the depths of peace beyond this world even through our most challenging times. There are more blessings than one person can count in a single lifetime by knowing God.

Without God, no life can be fully complete or genuinely experience unconditional love, the most profound joy, or eternally transcendent peace.

Ready to know peace? Great! Check out my blog post titled Know God, Know Peace. You can know for sure that you're going to heaven and spending eternity with God.

Health & Energy

There you have it, my top 57 ways I boost my immune system. Interestingly, more than 75 percent of my favorite ways to boost my immune system are related to the use of energy. And because all things are energy (including food, oxygen, water, etc.), one could make the case that ALL the ideas here are rooted in energy.

God created energy, and all human health was once based on His principles. As the world lost sight of God, they lost sight of what actual health means. I believe the future of proper health is in energy, God's energy. We are intricately weaved and amazingly created in the likeness of God's trinity. Our body, soul, and spirit are interconnected; a shift in one will shift the others. I use my God-given spirit to influence the health of my physical body.
